Our nation, our state, our city and our lives continue to be affected by the COVID-19 virus. In the past week, testing has increased but remains far below the levels it needs to be. Even with that slow pace of medical surveying, the number of confirmed cases has risen quickly and, sadly, more deaths have occurred as a result of this infection. Those numbers and the increasing number of social restrictions we face promise to go even higher before we see relief but the question is how long it will take. We hope for the best, grimly await the worst and prepare to take whatever may come.
We as a society are being tested in ways that haven’t been seen in generations but I have faith that we will make it through this and come out stronger and better for the experience. Despite my typically snarky and slightly bitter viewpoint, I also believe that we will learn lessons and hold ourselves to a higher standard of preparedness for the future. I even think that we will relearn the humility and polite humanity that seems to have faded from our lifestyle as I have gotten older.
We all are in this together and we only get through it as one collective spirit so it should happen on the best terms possible. In the words of those great philosophers Bill Preston and Ted Logan … be excellent to each other.
Peace, good health and great gaming to you all,
Guild Master Scott
