We held our Mid-Year Meeting and Game Night on Friday and attendance for that combined event was okay. A few folks had conflicting issues come up which precluded their participation. Those who were present heard a quick status report and a recap of LRPG activities.
The biggest news item for us was the state of the Guild Treasury. Our funds are at healthy levels and with current trends of new Member sign-ups and at-the-door attendees, we feel confident that we will be able to meet our goal of $2200 by the end of Guild Year 20 in August.
So as not to take too much time away from a very needed night of fun and gaming, we did not cover the joined topics of outreach, marketing and growth. Our 21st year as a gaming club is only six months away so expect discussion, planning and work on those those matters to begin immediately. Your contributions, of both ideas and effort, will be appreciated as we head into our third decade of community hobby support.
One topic that was on everyone’s mind Friday was, of course, COVID-19. Last week’s e-newsletter saw a lengthy address on the virus but by the time it hit your email, facts and information had changed from the time it was written earlier in the week. As we probably should expect for the near future of this ongoing situation, there have been changes to facts on the ground in just the past couple of days.
One particular element of this crisis is the growing call to limit “mass gatherings” to help prevent a more rapid spread of infection. Even at our peak performance, our Guild Game Nights hardly can be called mass gatherings so there currently are no plans to cancel any dates on our activity calendar. However, if anyone has concerns about the possible conditions of others or feels any cold symptoms coming on themselves, please feel free to bow out for a night or two. Personal responsibility and self-directed action will get us all through this ongoing crisis and be most helpful to what has been a relatively lackluster official response and course of action.
We will do our best to keep you all up to date with pertinent news updates and information that relates to Guild activities. Stay tuned to this weekly e-newsletter as well as our Facebook page for those posts.
We will be holding our next Guild Game Night on Friday March 27. There will be five game tables available using three of the leading rule systems in our hobby and it will be a great night of fun. We hope to see you all there … and bring a friend!
